We genuinely care
Why choose The Retreat in Plymouth, Devon
Making the decision about which care home is best for you or your loved one can be difficult. If you pay us a visit, we're confident that you will be very pleasantly surprised - the atmosphere is brght and welcoming. The Retreat was established in 1998 to provide older people with high-quality residential care in a friendly, homely environment. It's up-to-date and well-equipped, and staffed by fully-trained, experienced professionals.
Care does not mean the end of active life
As we grow older, there are inevitably things we can no longer do. But life doesn't have to stop. At The Retreat, we believe it's important to encourage residents to live a full and active life, and to take up new ventures, interests and activities.
Importantly, we never badger. Residents do only what they want to do, and activities can be arranged for individuals as well as groups.
A myriad things to do
Our broad range of enjoyable and stimulating social activities, including outings and shopping trips, ensure that life at The Retreat is anything but dull. Residents can learn new crafts, develop existing hobbies, and participate in bridge or enjoyable board games such as Scrabble. Our visiting speakers and professional entertainers keep us enthused and laughing.
If residents feel sociable, they can meet each other in our spacious lounge areas to watch TV, listen to music, or simply enjoy each other's company. If they are looking for privacy, they can choose to sit quietly and read a book, stroll around the garden, or just relax.
We accommodate people from all faiths and religious preferences, and all ethnic backgrounds. Residents are free to attend religious services of their choice.
Reassuring medical support
As well as round-the-clock nursing and support, residents can call upon the services of their own GP, if this is practicable. Visits to chiropodists, dentists and opticians can be easily arranged.
The best just gets better
Sunshine Care's surplus income is reinvested in our business. This ensures that our standard of care is always improving, and that we can arrange continual training courses for our staff.
