Our vision
Our care philosophy
The Retreat is totally committed to creating a loving, happy, active and caring environment for the elderly and frail. We encourage their independence and provide companionship, and we respect their dignity, choices and wishes at all times. What makes The Retreat so special?
It?s the exceptional calibre of our team. You?ll find that our staff not only look after your physical needs, they become your friends. Loving and compassionate, they?ll help you feel at home from your first day, showing an interest in you as an individual, and working with you to make your stay both enjoyable and fulfilling. Each staff member has a genuine interest in the mental and physical well-being of those for whom they care: they are all keen to participate in our continuous staff training programme, ensuring that our quality of care at The Retreat is always of the highest standard.
Your choice of activities
During your stay we?ll encourage you to lead an active lifestyle. There?s a wide choice of things to do, and you can join in with as many or as few as you wish.We like to encourage regular exercise. To keep you on your toes there are daily exercises, gentle walks, dancing, singing, and gardening. Enjoyable memory-recall games encourage mental alertness and keep your brain busy. We get together to listen to music, discuss current affairs and exchange opinions on books and television. And there are our ever-popular outings to local beauty spots ? why not tell us about the places you?d like to visit?
Who can we care for?
We provide a high standard of care for twenty residents. Most are elderly and frail, and enjoy the secure, homely environment of The Retreat. We can also care for elderly people suffering from mild confusion or short-term memory loss, and for those who are physically weak or have mobility problems.
Respite care can also be provided when we have the room.
