The elegant, beautiful and quietly situated Georgian country house was built in 1760 and was originally the dower house for a local landed family. It still retains it's charm and atmosphere. Our bedrooms, mostly en-suite, have the individual character you would expect from a building of this age. Nearly all the rooms are spacious, have quality decor and furnished with taste.
Those who decide to adopt this retreat as their home can be expected to enjoy the benefit of 24-hour individual care and attention in a loving atmosphere. Each room has a call bell system, your own telephone and individual telephone number, colour T.V., and a client controlled central heating system.
The dining room is often used for casual conversation between residents, for craft activities, or simply somewhere quiet to go and sit, to read or to entertain a visitor. Individual diets and choices of eating time or place are catered for. We intend to nurture both body and soul.

Many of the bedrooms have wonderful views over the woods, the moors and countryside, or overlook our large grounds. Visitors to the home are struck by the good vibration they feel on first impressions. Feel free to come and sample our hospitality, we are sure that you'll agree with us that The Retreat will be a "Home from Home". Everybody is treated with dignity and respect.
